Queering The Canon
New Song: “After The Show”
In September 2021, Lucier&Rose were commissioned to write a new song for an upcoming Ring of Keys concert, Queering The Cannon, in response to Heaven on Their Minds from Jesus Christ Superstar by Andrew Lloyd Webber & Tim Rice.
The new song, called After The Show, is a solo from Mary’s perspective in the style of Heaven. It’s a piece written with the intention of exploring the restorative narrative of a character that is sorely underdeveloped in the original show (and quite possibly misrepresented entirely, historically-speaking).
